Global Directories, publishers of The Barbados Yellow Pages (BYP), is committed to the wellbeing of Barbadians. The company that is responsible for the distribution of over 200,000 directories annually across Barbados, is not only concerned with reaching the entire corporate and domestic population, Global Directories is concerned with the health and wellness of the Barbadian community. This has made the partnership with The Nation Publishing Co. Limited for the Nation Funathlon 2014 a natural alliance.
This sentiment was expressed by Pam Roach, Marketing Manager for Global Directories. “Global Directories and The Barbados Yellow Pages are proud to be associated with The Nation Funathlon because we recognize the importance of promoting healthy lifestyles,” Roach said. Through The Barbados Yellow Pages, Global Directories will champion the event as the exclusive platinum sponsor.
“The Nation Funathlon event, which lets participants choose to either walk or run, encourages persons of diverse backgrounds to unite for a worthwhile cause and we encourage all participants to maintain healthy lifestyle practices,” Roach stated.
The 7K walk and run will wind through the heart of the city of Bridgetown on Sunday, November 23 from 3:15 in the afternoon. The not-for-profit annual event themed Show Your Love, Stop the Violence will be contributing proceeds to two local anti-violence charity programmes: The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP), spearheaded by the Supreme Counselling for Personal Development (SCPD) and the Safe House and Crisis Centre programmes of the Business of Professional Women’s Club of Barbados (BPW Barbados).
The revamped Nation Funathlon features a number of new elements this year with the support of Global Directories, Barbados Yellow Pages and other sponsors and partners. The fun event calls for an end to all forms of violence and will showcase a commemorative T-shirt with the #ItStopsHere slogan incorporated into the design. Participants can also look forward to photographic ‘Love Stops’ en route and can join the inaugural ‘Flower Drop’ to honour victims of violence and symbolize a letting go of violent acts.
