Don’t Worry, Be Happy: Beacon is Switched On for the Nation Funathlon
November 13, 2014
Beacon Insurance has long be recognized as a technology leader, but the company with over 35 years in the insurance industry is “switched on” in more ways than one and teams up with The Nation Publishing Company Limited to show a more caring side for this year’s Nation Funathlon.
The silver sponsor of the annual walk and run event has incorporated the fun event into its Don’t Worry, Be Happy marketing campaign strategy. Nisa Dass, Corporate Marketing Manager for Beacon, explains the Don’t Worry, Be Happy campaign “showcases the personality of the company, always thinking of its customers, always thinking ahead to the next step, a little offbeat and always fun. We believe this is what the Nation Funathlon is about also and we are proud to sponsor this event.”
Dass also commended the media house for contributing the funds raised from the event to two local anti-violence charity programmes: The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP), spearheaded by the Supreme Counselling for Personal Development (SCPD) and the Safe House and Crisis Centre programmes of the Business of Professional Women’s Club of Barbados (BPW Barbados). “Like the Beacon Insurance Don’t Worry, Be Happy initiative, the Nation Funathlon strives to create a feeling of goodwill and happiness by doing ordinary things in an extraordinary way,” Dass stated. “We strongly believe that it is the little, unexpected gestures that you do for others that make a difference. Happiness is in giving so why not give back to the people that have brought us to where we are today.”
Held as part of the Nation Publishing’s anniversary celebrations, the Funathlon falls on the actual anniversary this year, on Sunday, November 23. The not-for-profit event that caters to the entire family, comes off under the theme Show Your Love, Stop the Violence. The 7K walk and run will wind through the heart of the city of Bridgetown on from 3:15 in the afternoon although pre-event activities including a Flower Drop and Mini-Concert are slated to start from 2:30pm.
